Introduction

As the member of the Pan-European Seal Network, students of excellence at BME have an opportunity to apply for a paid 12-month long professional traineeship at either EPO or EUIPO.  

Detailed description of the two organisations:

1. EPO (European Patent Office)

Location: Münich, Germany

Fields:

1. Science & Engineering (Patent Granting)
2. Business Administration 
3. Law (including Patent Law) 
4. Economics & Finance 
5. International Relations & Communication 
 
Within Science & Engineering field, there are 3 sections:
  • Mobility and Mechatronics
  • Healthcare, Biotechnology and Chemistry
  • Information and Communication Technology

EPO PES 2024-2025 slides

 

1.1. Eligible candidates

- citizens of EPO member countries;

- a completed undergraduate degree or equivalent;
- knowledge of one of the EPO’s working languages (English, French or German) at a minimum level of B1.

 

1.2. Components of the programme

Trainees are supported by a grant of 2000 EUR per month.
This amount is subject to local taxes and social security
contributions (deduction approx. 20%).

2. EUIPO ( European Union Intellectual Property Office)

Location: Alicante (Spain)

Fields:

1. Law (Intellectual Property law)

3. Political Sciences and International Relations
4. Linguistics
5. Economics and Business Administration
6. Information Technology
7. Communication
8. Facility Management
9. Human Resources
 
2.1. Selection criteria
 
Trainees shall be selected from nationals of the Member States of the European Union and candidate countrie. A limited number of nationals of candidate countries and third countries (approx 10 of the available positions) may be accepted.
 
 
2.2. Components of the traineeship programme
 

Traineeships take place at the EUIPO with a monthly allowance, as well as other benefits.

Fee: 1200 EUR/month
