Regional network and cooperation among BME Budapest, Czech Technical University in Prague, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and Technical University of Vienna, enabling regular consultation meetings for Rectors since 2003.
 
ATHENS Network [Advanced Technology Higher Education Network/Socrates]
The ATHENS Programme is aimed at carrying out intensive specialization courses, given at each member institution during one or two defined periods ("Sessions") of the academic year (November and March), enabling students to attend one of the courses offered by the network universities for 7 days. This experience, in many cases, gives students the desire to carry out studies of a longer duration (MSc and PhD levels) at an institution different from their home institution and thus facilitates exchanges between students of 15 major European technological institutions. Apart from the intensive courses, the institutions form smaller groups to participate in Erasmus Strategic Partnership programs and European Universities initiatives. AUF [Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie]
The Agency of the Francophone Universities represents those universities where studies are provided partly or full in French. Its priorities: cooperation among Arabian, Central and Eastern European, Francophone and South-Eastern Asian countries. CEE office is in Bucharest. The association has 634 member institutions (universities and research centres). Their mission is to support cooperation in the field of higher education and research with different programmes, scholarship funds, and researchers’ database.
 
CEEPUS [Central European Exchange Program for University Studies]
The CEEPUS International Agreement was signed on December 8, 1993 in Budapest by the relevant Ministers of Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, The Slovak Republic and Slovenia. Priorities of the program: contribute to building Europe and the European Higher Education Area, regional academic mobility as a strategic tool to implement Bologna objectives, enable cooperation with SEE and the Ukraine. The member countries are Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia. CELSA [Central Europe Leuven Strategic Alliance]
CELSA was founded in April 2016 by 7 old and famous universities in 4 innovative European cities: Budapest (Hungary), Leuven (Belgium), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Prague (Czech Republic). The Alliance aims at promoting collaboration between its members, to exchange practice at both policy and operational level, and together to find solutions for the major problems Europe is facing. The CELSA members’ mission is to educate Europe’s youngsters, to perform the best research in many scientific disciplines, and to reach out to society and economy with its talents and its state of the art research results. CELSA intends to jointly organize training courses, exchange practice in common issues such as peer-reviewing, education evaluation, research assessments, open science, knowledge transfer, and in particular setup collaborative projects for research programs like Horizon2020, and education programs like Erasmus+. In 2017, the University of Tartu (Estonia) joined the CELSA-network, expanding the Network to the North. In 2019, two Polish universities joined the network: the University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University (Krakow).
 
CESAER [Conference of European Schools of Advanced Engineering Education and Research]
CESAER stands for scientific excellence in engineering education and research, and the promotion of innovation through close cooperation with industry in order to ensure the application of cutting-edge knowledge in industry and society. CESAER was established in 1990 and now has a membership of 51 institutions from 26 countries out of which BME is the only Hungarian member. CESAER members are committed to the following core values and guiding principles: High level research-based engineering education; Research at the front edge of knowledge; Close co-operation with the industry towards innovation; Continuous improvement in and integration of education, research and innovation in the knowledge triangle; and Contribute to sustainable economic, societal and environmental development. Task Forces based on the main focus areas: TF Scientific Engineering Education (TFSEE); TF International Cooperation (TFIC); TF Human Resources (TFHR); TF Benchmarking (TFB); TF Innovation (TFI); TF EU Funding Instruments (TFEUFI); and TF Open Science (TFOS).
 
CRP [Conference of Rectors and Presidents of European Universities of Technology]
Its mission is to establish an informal group of representatives from leading engineering universities in Europe. As an informal group, the Conference has no formal international or European organisational structure. International appearance, coordination: Vienna University of Technology, European and International Research and Technology Cooperation.
 
EAIE [European Association for International Education]
The headquarters of the Association located in Amsterdam. The main goal of EAIE is the stimulation and facilitation of the internationalisation of higher education in Europe and around the world, and to meet the professional needs of individuals active in international education. It has 1600 individual members from academic and administrative areas, researchers and educational professionals.
 
EDEN [European Distance Learning and E-Learning Network]
EDEN established in 1991 in the UK, is an international educational association open to institutions and individuals dealing with e-learning, open and distance education. It has about 50 member states from Europe and other continents. Proving versatile expertise, the Association embraces all levels of formal and non-formal education and training. EDEN is fostering developments and collaboration in the constantly evolving field of e-learning and distance education by shaping European policy and offering services in a non-hierarchical manner. Since 1997, Budapest University Technology and Economics hosts the EDEN Secretariat.
 
ENEN [European Nuclear Education Network]
ENEN has 61 members. Its aim is the preservation and further development of higher nuclear education and expertise. Objectives: to deliver a European Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering, to encourage PhD studies, to promote exchange of students and teachers participating in the network, to establish a framework for mutual recognition, to foster and strengthen relations between universities, nuclear research laboratories, industries and regulatory bodies, to ensure the quality of academic nuclear engineering education, training and research. EUA [European University Association]
EUA plays an essential role in representing European Universities towards the decision-making organizations of the EU. It has over 800 member institutions from 50 countries, involved in teaching and research, national associations of rectors and other organizations active in higher education. Its mission is to provide cooperation among institutions of higher education and EU, support research and development, accreditation, quality assurance and evaluation programmes, project of doctorate programmes (DOC-CAREERS).
 
IA [Inter-Academia Network]
Initiated in 2002 by Shizuoka University, Japan. The main goal of the Network is to enrich the partnership between its members: Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, Bergische Universitaet in Wuppertal, Comenius University in Bratislava, Gomel State University in Gomel, Warsaw University of Technology and BME. By organizing conferences and other types of programs, the primordial aim of the Inter-Academia Network is to convene the academic scientific staff and students from the member universities to exchange information, new ideas and to foster lasting co-operation relationships in both science and education fields.
 
IAU [International Association of Universities]
Founded in 1950, under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Association of Universities (IAU) is the leading global association of higher education institutions and organisations from around the world. IAU brings together its Members from more than 130 countries for reflection and action on common priorities. IAU is an independent, bilingual (English and French), non-governmental organization. It acts as the global voice of higher education to UNESCO and other international higher education organizations, and provides a global forum for leaders of institutions and associations. Its services are available on the priority basis to Members but also to organisations, institutions and authorities concerned with higher education, as well as to individual policy and decision-makers, specialists, administrators, teachers, researchers and students. IAU is an official partner of UNESCO (Associate status) and has been given special consultative status by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
 
SEFI [Société Européenne pour la Formation des Ingénieurs; European Society for Engineering Education]
It is the largest network of engineering education institutions and of individuals involved in engineering education in Europe. SEFI has the mission to contribute to the development and the improvement of the engineering education in Europe. SEFI is the first example of an association directly linking the institutions of higher engineering education, hence independent of national and/or community filters in establishing its policy as an international forum for discussing problems and identifying solutions relating to engineering education. T.I.M.E. [Top International Managers in Engineering/ former Top Industrial Managers for Europe]
TIME Association was founded in 1989 by the Écoles Centrales (EC), 4 French Grandes Écoles of engineering. TIME has become Europe's leading network for the teaching bi-cultural, bilingual engineers. After completing the study program, the students receive a Master-level Double Degree diploma. The number of participating institutional member is 56 from 23 countries.
 
The Fulbright Program:
Established in 1946 by the Institute of International Education, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of students, professors and researchers, knowledge, and skills.
 
Visegrad Fund:
Founded by the Governments of the countries of the Visegrad Group / V4 (the Czech Republic, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Poland, and the Slovak Republic) the Visegrad Fund supports common cultural, scientific and educational projects, exchanges between young people and cross-border cooperation. It also helps students to study in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.
